Three weeks after the opening of the world’s newest airport, Al Maktoum, which serves the huge enterprise zone of Dubai World Central, things are already looking good.
Today saw the low key opening of Al Maktoum International Airport with the first commercial passenger flight to land there, courtesy of Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air.

TAXI at Al Maktoum Airport

Taxi services from Al Maktoum Airport are very well appointed and the most popular way of getting around. Taxi fares are relatively inexpensive compared to the UK and Europe. Dubai Transport Corporation operate taxi service directly from the airport (cream coloured cars) and provide well trained, English speaking drivers. The cabs are metered with prices set by the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai.

Your hotel may also arrange a taxi service for you and will be able to provide telephone numbers of local taxi services once outside of the airport facility.

How much will a taxi from Al Maktoum cost?

Rates are fixed and metered. The journey to Dubai city centre is approximately 60km and will take around 1 hour. This should cost in the region of 140 AED (around £23 / $38)
